QuickPic AAC 1.0.2

Powered by artificial intelligence, QuickPic offers an automated solution for generating topic-specific visual displays from photographs, aimed at supporting communication and language development for individuals with speech limitations, their families, and speech-language pathologists (SLPs).

By selecting a photograph, users can quickly generate a comprehensive display containing relevant vocabulary symbols (pictograms) associated with the chosen image. This process typically takes only a few seconds.

These topic-specific displays are single-page interfaces that consolidate all pertinent vocabulary for discussing a particular subject or activity. Users can select items from the display to construct sentences, which are then articulated via synthesized speech.

QuickPic provides extensive customization options, including:

• Editing generated displays to add or remove words or to replace symbols for greater clarity or relevance.
• Adjusting the size of interface elements to meet user preferences or needs.
• Modifying the complexity of automatically generated vocabulary to suit individual proficiency levels.
• Programming familiar individuals to enable QuickPic to recognize them automatically when creating new boards, facilitating personalized interactions.

The application was developed by a team of experts, including PhDs and certified SLPs (CCC-SLPs), specializing in speech-language therapy and human-computer interaction (HCI). The development process employed user-centered design methodologies, actively involving end-users throughout the design and testing phases.
